“GURU-PRAPTI DIVAS” is the most important and fortunate day for all Chitrapur Saraswats as on this day in the year 1708 “LORD BHAVANISHANKAR” himself  descended in “DEHA-ROOPA” as  our ADI GURU-SHRIMAT PARIJNANASHRAM SWAMIJI” to bless and guide our community. This auspicious day falls on “RATHA SAPTAMI”.

This year this auspicious day fell on 25 January, 07 and the venue for the celebration of this occasion was “SAMAJ SADAN HALL, MAHIM”. All Parivaris came forward and began preparing for the occasion. The hall was beautifully decorated with colorful rangolis, flower garlands etc. Here names of Harish Purarkar & Surendra Patekar have to be mentioned. The place where the samadhi photographs of our Almightys were to be placed was beautifully decorated. At about 6.15 pm (Godhuli Muhurtam when He descended at Kotiteertha, Gokarn) youngsters carried samadhi photographs of first seven Swamijis and from the gate of the hall with elders carrying  Holy Padukas of Shrimat Pandurangashram Swamiji, Shrimat Anadashram Swamiji and Shrimat Parijnanashram Swamiji. Gulvadi Ganeshmam lead the procession carrying photo of Lord Bhavanishankar. The atmosphere was splendid with jaijaikars and the ladies welcomed all the Swamijis at the entrance with Padprakshalan. These youngsters then entered the hall and placed the photographs and Padukas on their respective asanas in the chronological order.

All the Swamiji’s were welcomed with Jaijaikars and Aarti. Shashi Balsekar  read out “Kshamayachana” (prepared by Mohan & Purnima Naimpalli) on behalf of all the Chitrapur Saraswats for forgiving us, for all the insults, humiliations and troubles we the Chitrapur Saraswats inflicted on our Poojya Swamijis in the last 300 years. Harish Purarkar beautifully read out 3rd and 4th chapter of “SHRI CHITRAPUR GURUPARAMPARA” which depicts the relevance of the occasion. "ANTARANG" written by P.P. Parijnanashram Swamiji was released and distributed to all which was published by Shri Chandavarkar Vasantmam (Bossmam) specially for this occasion. After Deepanamaskar Ashtavadhan Pooja was performed. Beautiful bhajans during Sangeet Seva were sung by Mohan & Purnima Naimpalli and Kaikini Dattabhatmam. Nihar Kabinittal presented soulful flute recital during Venuvadya Seva. Ved. Kaikini Datta bhatji, Ved Chandavarkar Manohar bhatji & Ved Nadkarni Sunil bhatji were in charge of the pooja ceremonies. After Ashtavadhan Pooja, Bhiksha was offered to all Swamijis and Lord Bhavanishankar. After Mangal aarti, delicious prasad bhojan follwed. The atmosphere in the hall was divine that everybody could feel the presence of all our 10 gurus and Lord Bhavanishankar. Special thanks was given to Shri Kaikini Sureshmam for decorating Aarti Paler befitting the occasion everytime. This time he had recreated the scene which took place at Kotiteertha on that day.

All the 70-odd  Parivaris went home contented and satisfied promising to meet again at Dr Uday Andars place to celebrate Swamiji’s Ordination Day on 1st March.
